New Elementary School

The award-winning Stanley Elementary School, a "green" school from its inception, is the first public elementary school in Massachusetts to achieve a Silver LEED rating from the USGBC. As a recipient of one of the first grants from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative for renewable-energy generation, the project was accomplished within the State’s strict funding formula. An example of the building’s “no cost” green strategies is its orientation on an east-west axis to maximize natural day lighting and give views to 90% of the interior spaces.
