Triton Regional Middle/High School | Byfield, MA

Addition and Renovation

The Triton Regional High School/Triton Regional Middle School was faced with overcrowding, code issues, and aging building systems. A feasibility study was conducted involving an existing conditions assessment of the school building and site, an enrollment projection to the year 2005, and development of schematic design drawings, cost estimates, and options. As a result of the study, Flansburgh Architects designed a 64,000 square foot addition and major renovations to the existing 212,000 square foot building. The additional space provides for an expanded middle school program and a 15,000 square foot gymnasium.

Renovations include new building systems, a new roof, window repairs, upgrades for all life safety and handicapped codes, interior finishes to classrooms and the library, and the installation of cabling for a new voice, data, and audio network.

The project was carefully phased in six sequences so that the school could remain fully operational during the reconstruction. The project was completed four months ahead of the planned 36-month schedule and more than $1M under budget.
