Dec 8, 2010HPA Energy Lab wins the 2011 Walter Taylor Award
The HPA Energy Lab has won the 2011 Walter Taylor Award from AASA/AIA/CEFPI and will be honored at the AASA National Conference in Denver in February. Juror comments include: "Beautifully poetic architecture that is of its place. This is an impressive example of how a building that is designed to foster student discovery, exploration and experimentation, can embrace and demonstrate those qualities in an active, dynamic and functional built environment." more info

The HPA Energy Lab earned the 2010 Merit Award from Wood Design & Building Magazine for its innovative uses of wood as a building material. Wood Design & Building Magazine is a publication of the Canadian Wood Council, exclusively dedicated to wood use in architecture and construction. more info

Sep 16, 2011HPA Energy Lab wins Forest Stewardship Council Award
The HPA Energy Lab has been named the first place winner in the commercial/institutional category of the 7th Annual Design & Build with the Forest Stewardship Council Awards. The award will be presented at Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in Toronto on October 5th. The award recognizies excellence in the use of FSC materials in both residential and commercial/institutional design and construction. more info

Secretary of Education Arne Duncan joined White House Council on Environmental Quality Chair Nancy Sutley & EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson to announce the first-ever U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools, a list of 78 schools that span 29 states & D.C. Flansburgh Architect is pleased to announce that the Hawaii Preparatory Academy Energy Lab has been designated as a Green Ribbon School by the Department of Education, which recognizes schools that save energy, reduce costs, feature environmentally sustainable learning spaces, protect health, foster wellness, and offer environmental education to boost academic achievement and community engagement. more info
